LAU are a formidable trio of the finest & most innovative exponents of modern traditional music in Britain. Their now famous live shows are a must-see experience with an energy and musicianship which is spellbinding.
Formed out of the progressive traditional music scene in Edinburgh, Lau have consistently discovered new musical boundaries with their unique take on ‘folk’. The multi- award winning Scots / English trio have issued three highly acclaimed albums, in as many years (‘Lightweights & Gentlemen’ 2007, ‘Live’ 2008, 'Arc Light’ 2009) which have seen the band take their legendary live concert show to all corners of the globe.
Highly regarded musicians in their own right, the combined talents of Kris Drever, Martin Green and Aidan O’Rourke make for a fantastic and all-conquering trio.
Following their monumental 'Arc Light' tour (which lasted February – December 2009), 2010 sees Lau return again to the studio to record some ‘new Lau noise’ for the first in a series of limited edition Lau EP’s.
This year Lau won the Best Group award for an amazing third year in a row at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to add to the Live Act of The Year award at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards in 2009.
