Why I Love Fightstar.

I've loved Fightstar since i first found out about them in late 2003, whilst Charlie Simpson was in Busted. In early 2005, Charlie Simpson split with Busted to focus on Fightstar. They released a EP named 'They Liked You Better When You Were Dead' and it has 6 tracks on it, most of them were put onto later albums and made into singles. One of my favourite Fightstar songs comes from 'They Liked You Better When You Were Dead', it is called 'Palahniuk's Laughter', the lyrics are so deep and mean a lot to me.

In 2006, Fightstar released their first album 'Grand Unification'. This album has meant so much to me. 'Sleep Well Tonight', 'Lost Like Tears In The Rain', 'Mono' and 'Grand Unification Pt 2' have such deep lyrics, with a message inside each song. The mix between Al's voice and Charlie's voice is so good, and they match well together.

In 2007, 'One Day Son, This Will Be All Yours' was released, this has to be one of the best albums I've ever heard. The build-up of each song tell a personal story from each of the band members. The way the guitar, bass and drums all fit together in each song is epic! Deathcar is the heaviest song of Fightstar so far however, it has story behind it, the story being about the deathcars in China where they was killing people for their organs. The video for it shows how serious it is but it had been banned on TV.

Later on in 2008, Fightstar next released 'Alternate Endings'. This album contained live songs, and a few covers. This album had a lot of different style of songs, even though they didn’t follow through, it’s still a brilliant album.

On the 20th of April 2009 Fightstar released their best album yet 'Be Human'. This album has a mixture between heavy Fightstar and quiet Fightstar. They use a 16piece orchestra and also a choir, with these it really shows how much Fightstar can produce. With little money, I think they did very well.

Shortly after on the 22nd of April, Fightstar started their 'Be Human' tour. I went to see them on the 11th of May, what a night to be honest. The support band, The Xcerts, were amazing! When Fightstar was setting up, everyone was getting so hyper. It was my first Fightstar gig, and it was definitely the best gig I've been to so far! Dan really got the crowd going and it was so amazing. The acoustic song 'Amethyst' was a good way to lead into the last song. They closed the show with 'Deathcar' which really got the crowd going. With some many people moshing and a wicked circle pit, it was so much fun. The merch was wicked too and it was such a great night!

Charlie Simpson, Al Westaway, Dan Haigh and Omar Abidi have defo changed my life, however I couldn't imagine myself without Fightstar! They've had such a huge impact in my life and have really helped me through all the bad times in life. Just listening to any songs of theirs cheers me up so much. I'd definitely see them again live. Hopefully, they're going be around for a few more years because to be honest, I really love them.

They just mean the world to me!
